The 21st Songeun Art Award Exhibition

The Songeun Art Gallery has been in operation since Friday, December 10, of last year, and is scheduled to run until Saturday, February 12, 2022. This two-part exhibition is marked as the inaugural event held within the newly, redesigned building. The Songeun Art Award is an annual award that was launched in 2001 for the purpose of discovering and providing support to talented modern-day artists. Following the redesigning of their building in commemoration of the gallery's 20th anniversary, the Songeun Art Gallery increased both award benefits and the number of participating exhibition artists to 20 people, while maintaining their characteristic exhibition style of evaluation. This year's contest saw as many as 539 applicants with the 20 finalists selected last February during the preliminary evaluations. These 20 artists then became the line-up for this year's exhibition and are listed below. They will use the exhibition as a platform to express their various modern-day artwork through several art forms, from painting, sculptures, and installations, to photography, video, and sound.
