West Gate of Seoul: Sold for Pennies

The loss of its original role and the castle gate meant that Hanyang, a medieval city that had been maintained for centuries, had been dismantled. The demolition of Donuimun Gate was an important event in the process of converting from Hanyang, the capital of Joseon, to Gyeongseong, a colonial city. In this exhibition, visitors can look back on the history of the dismantling of Hanyang City Wall through the lost gates and Donuimun Gate.
